Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Belgium and Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

His Excellency Abdulrahman Sulaiman Alahmed took up his appointment as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Belgium and Luxembourg and as the Head of Mission to the European Union in February 2014.

Mr Alahmed began his career at MoFA in 1987 as an attaché, gaining many years of experience in diplomacy from 1994-2001 as a chargé d’affaires at the Mission of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations. In this context he has followed up the meetings of the Security Council, the U.N. First Committee on International Security & Disarmament Issues and the UN Sixth Committee on Legal Issues.

Prior to his current appointment, he had served as General Manager for Unions and Groups Administrations for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in 2009. He served previously in the Ministry’s Agency for Consular Affairs for Bilateral Relations (Western Admin.) as well as in the department for Multilateral Relations (International Organizations Admin.).

Graduating in Political Sciences from the King Saud University, Riyadh in 1986, Mr Alahmed later also received an MA in Governments and Political Sciences from St. John’s University, New York in 1997. He has also received a diploma from the Saudi Institute of Diplomatic Studies, where he is a part-time faculty member, and a Certificate in International Law and Diplomacy at St. John’s University, NY. He is also a founding member of the Saudi Political Sciences Association in Riyadh.

Mr Alahmed is married with four children.
